How to do a Good Job of Clothing Label Identification?

The instructions for using clothing products (label identification) are important credentials for consumers to choose and use clothing products. The Product Quality Law of the People’s Republic of China also specifies the requirements for product identification. Therefore, enterprises should standardize and do a good job in clothing label identification.

To do a good job in clothing label identification, two major requirements should be grasped:

Firstly, ensure that the annotated information is complete.

The label identification must include: product name, implemented product standard, safety category, fiber composition and content, size or specification, maintenance method, manufacturer name and address, and special requirements of the product standard (if any). Among them, three pieces of information must be marked on the durability label, including fiber composition and content, size or specification, and maintenance method. Additionally, it is recommended to include information such as product quality level and product inspection certificate.

Secondly, ensure that the annotated information is standardized and correct.

1. Product name: It should indicate the true attributes of the product and should not cause ambiguity.
2. Product standards to be implemented: Suitable product standards should be selected based on the product.
3. Safety category: Infant and toddler products should at least comply with Class A, products in direct contact with skin should at least comply with Class B, and products in non direct contact with skin should at least comply with Class C.
4. Fiber composition and content: Use standardized fiber names and arrange the fiber content in descending order.
5. Size or specification: Mark the size of the clothing according to the prescribed format.
6. Maintenance method: Use standardized maintenance symbols, and add or not add textual explanations. If adding textual explanations, they should correspond one-to-one with the corresponding symbols.
7. Manufacturer’s name and address: indicate the name and address of the manufacturer who can bear legal responsibility, and note that the address should be detailed.
8. Special requirements for product standards: For example, denim clothing should be labeled as “washed product” or “original color product”, and knitted baby clothing should be labeled as “not dry cleaned”.
9. Product quality level: such as qualified products, first-class products, and superior products.
10. Product inspection certificate: If the hanging tag is marked with the words “certificate of conformity”.
